Holland & Lansing Michigan Visit

Fun but short visit to Michigan. I stopped into see Aunt Sue in Lansing before heading to Holland to visit with Pat and Debbie.

The visit with Aunt Sue was a short but fun and effective. We plugged in overnight for the first time in a week and filled the water tanks. Sue gave me a nice tour of old downtown Lancing that included a visit to Elderly Instruments.

Pat and Matt were roommates at Western Michigan University 1981-1982. After moving around a bit, with multiple houses in several cities, they decided Holland was the place to retire. Their house is 1 block from Lake Michigan.

We biked and hiked the first day, and then did the city tour via bike the second day.

After biking on the first day, we had a fun jam session with Pat on drums and Matt on the guitar. We had our moments, but Matt needs to learn a few more tuns with a heavy rhythm more appropriate for drumming.

In college, Pat studied metallurgy and material science. One of his projects was to build a process for the manufacture of structural hex kevlar and other materials, to be used in helicopter blades and other applications that require strength but at a very light weight.

Aunt Sue had a nice meal at the Fleetwood Diner.
